Our History
Cyrus Adler AZA was officially founded when we received our chapter charter from the International BBYO office in Washington, D.C. on July 12, 1942. The 434th chapter to be chartered, CA AZA is the oldest AZA chapter in Houston, and in our region, the Lonestar Region. The original chapter had 4 advisors and 30 members, many of who remain active in Houston's Jewish community. Today, the chapter is one of the largest in the region, with over 50 members. CA has earned the prestigious Horwitz Nathan Rubin Cup for best all-around AZA chapter in the region for 6 of the last 8 years, and several times before that. From term to term, CA continues to set an example in Houston and in the Lonestar Region by living by AZA's Seven Cardinal Principles: Judaism, Fraternity, Filial Love, Charity, Conduct, Patriotism, and Purity.

Our Sweetheart

Jana "Sweetie" Heaton is our new, beautiful Sweetheart this year. Hailing from Barnston BBG, Jana joined our chapter as a 2009 NOM, and won our vote for Sweetheart. We look forward to a wonderful year with Jana "Sweetie".

Our Advisors
CA is lucky to have Dee Dee Halpin and Howard Schultz as our amazing advisors. Dee Dee, who's daughter, Denise, was a CA Sweetheart and son, Matthew, was a member from '03-'07, joined CA as an advisor in 2004 after advising Barnston BBG for 6 years. Howard, whose daughter, Mindy, was also a CA Sweetheart, and whose son, Devyn, is a current member, joined in 2006.
